We’ve established a good working relationship with Manchester City Council, having worked with several departments over the years. The challenge presented by IASM [Information, Advice and Support Manchester] was to develop an online resource and presence for parents, carers and service users to be able to quickly and easily access information without directly contacting the department.

BACKGROUND

Like many local authority departments across the country, the IASM has limited capacity in-house. They recruited us to help find them a solution to their overworking. We designed them a modern, responsive website – which acts as a resource centre for service users and their families. Having seen our work with the Manchester Adult Education & Skills Plan department, they got in touch to ask if we could collaborate with their in-house designers on this project.

This allows the full team to work on their projects rather than manning the phones and responding to emails with fairly simple queries which can be easily answered on the website. We collaborated

GOALS

> Establish an online presence for the department
> Adhere to accessibility guidelines

> Distinguish the department from other 'IAS' departments and bodies

> Provide an effective online information resource for service users

> Streamline the processes and man-hour resources of the deparrtment

PROCESS

DEVELOPMENT

Over the course of a year we worked with the department to really understand the capacity issues they were experiencing, and dig down into how we could really solve their issues with digital solutions.

TRAINING

Working with the in-house team we streamlined their processes, resources and information into a format which could function independently online. The purpose of which was to give them more hours in the day to deliver their service remit. We trained the team up in best practices and how to get the most out of their website platform.

LAUNCH

The website has been a resounding success, allowing the department to get back to doing the important work they are tasked with. It's also been a useful resource for service users and Manchester residents.

ONGOING

We'll continue to work with IASM to enhance their offering and streamline their processes.

RESULTS

Feedback has been positive all round, and it's helped the department to get back to doing the important work they are tasked with. It's also been a useful resource for service users and Manchester residents.
